Welcome to Tradewind on the Isle of Wight.

This comfortable, well appointed self catering bungalow is set in a secluded part of the Island with easy access to local amenities and the beach at Freshwater Bay. The bungalow is well presented and easily accommodates 5 people for a comfortable relaxing holiday.

Tradewind is ideally situated for walking and cycling holidays on the Island with good access to the footpath network. Secure storage is available for bicycles including access to power for charging electric bicycles.

Tradewind  has an electric vehicle charging point. This is a non tethered universal Type 2 socket compatible with mainstream vehicles. There is no additional charge to guests for use of the charging point.

Tradewind has free Wi-Fi access and a smart TV, with access to a range of on demand services and streaming, Guests can access their own Netflix account if desired. A DVD player and a DAB radio/CD player with bluetooth capability is also provided.  A selection of fiction and non-fiction books, an Xbox One games console and a range of board games are also provided.  The comfortable lounge has bean bags which can be used as foot rests and a log effect gas fire for cosy evenings when its cold outside. Floor standing lights, table lamps, mirrors and a sparkling coffee table add to the ambience in this lovely room which comfortably seats five people.

The conservatory, overlooking the rear garden, provides a versatile space which can be used as a family dining dining room, comfy seating area for two and a television with access to FreeSat channels. The conservatory is heated in the cooler months to allow  all year round use via stand alone oil filled electric radiator. In summer opening the windows and doors make this a flexible space connecting the garden to the interior of the bungalow. Lighting over the table makes this space work in the evenings as well as during the day.

The kitchen is well equipped with a gas cooker, extractor unit, fridge freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle and dishwasher. A full range of cutlery, crockery, kitchen utensils, pots and pans, glassware and dishes are provided to make self catering as easy as possible. The kitchen table will seat up to 6 people and plenty of storage for your own provisions is provided. A number of sockets also have USB charging facilities and a DAB radio and television with access to the main Freeview Channels is provided. This television also has a built in DVD player.

Tradewind has three bedrooms sleeping up to five people.. Bedroom 1 has a king size (5 foot) metal frame bed with comfortable mattress. Built in wardrobes provide lots of hanging space and storage. Bedside cabinets provide more storage and bedside lights, with a DAB  alarm clock radio. A television with access to the main Freeview Channels is provided. A hairdryer, a socket block with USB sockets, a dressing table and a safe are also provided for guests to use.  Bedroom 1 looks over the private rear garden with lovely views of the flowering cherry tree, patio and summer house. If you are really lucky you may see a red squirrel or green woodpecker in the garden.

Bedroom 2 is a twin room themed around the seaside. and overlooks the front of the property. It also has plenty of storage with  built in wardrobes and bedside cabinets. A hairdryer, bedside lights, USB sockets and DAB radio alarm clock are also available for guests to use.

Bedroom 3 is a single room with a 3ft standard single bed, freestanding wardrobe and bedside chest of drawers. This room also overlooks the front of the property. A hairdryer, bedside light and DAB radio alarm clock are also available for guests to use.

The bathroom is spacious with a large bath with a mixer waterfall tap, and a separate walk in shower cubicle.

The utility room has a washing machine, separate tumble dryer and sink, with storage for laundry basket and other items underneath. The large work surface provides an ideal space for managing laundry before putting it away.

In the secluded rear garden there is a summer house with comfy seating for two. A large patio away from the bungalow ensures that guests can make the most of the sunshine in this area if they wish. An extending patio table, six chairs and large parasol make this a comfortable area for meals any time during the day when the weather is good. A barbecue is provided for outside cooking. A wooden bench seat can also be found in the garden. The garden has well tended lawns, a small selection of planters with a flowering cherry tree and low growing apple tree.

The front garden has a sweeping driveway with ample parking for up to 3 cars and an electric vehicle charging point. The front garden planted with mature Acers and Mediterranean plants. A bench seat and picnic bench can also be found in this tranquil space.  The front garden overlooks the neighbouring field, which boarders on the Afton Marshes nature reserve, is a haven for birds and wildlife including Red Squirrels. 

Presented as a holiday home for the first time in 2019, we have sympathetically modernised and updated Tradewind to provide a stylish and comfortable place to stay.

Smoking or vaping is not permitted in the property. Pets are not permitted with the exception of guide dogs. 

 Additional blankets and pillows are available on request from the owners. A cot and highchair can be provided if requested in advance, if the cot is requested 1 single bed will be removed and it will be agreed with the guests which bed the cot will replace.

Guest access

You will have access to the whole bungalow excluding the garage, there is plenty of parking on the driveway. There is secure dry storage for bicycles, including 2 electric sockets for charging electric bicycles, which is accessed behind the garage.

Interaction with guests

We will meet you on arrival to hand over the keys, arrange to collect the keys from you on departure and be contactable by telephone if needed. Cleaning is in line with industry standard recommendations.

Other things to note

All bed linen and towels are included in the hire price but please bring your own beach towels.

What to do in West Wight

Nearby attractions include the Needles Pleasure Park at Alum Bay with the coloured sands and chairlift, Freshwater Golf Course, Dimbola Lodge and photographic museum, and Farringford House the former home of Alfred Lord Tennyson. Other local activities include horse riding, water sports, walking alpacas, fossil hunting and access to extensive walking and cycling opportunities. Afton Down and Tennyson Down are among the most popular and spectacular walks

Freshwater village centre is a short walk away with shops and eating places including the Red Lion, a favourite eating place for visitors. Yarmouth is a historic town, with a Tudor castle, with the ferry from Lymington arriving here, you will find a range of local shops and eating places. Travelling further afield you will find the magic of Osborne House (Queen Victoria’s former home) located in East Cowes, Blackgang Chine at the southern tip of the Island near Chale, Carisbrooke Castle on the outskirts of Newport and many other Isle of Wight attractions

Getting There

Tradewind is approximately 4km from Yarmouth vehicle/passenger ferry terminal from where taxis are usually available, and is 300m from the nearest bus stop. Vehicular access to the property is good. The bungalow is located in a quiet single track road.
